Alternative Accommodation Option

Parkes & Forbes residents have you got a granny flat or alternative accommodation option you might like to earn some money for?

Contact Ray White Parkes and register your place on our granny flat and alternative accommodation register and do your bit to help Parkes meet the anticipated increased accommodation demand in 2021.

“There’s so much going on in Parkes the demand for short term serviced and furnished accommodation is soon to be at unprecedented levels” says Tracie Robertson Principal of Ray White Parkes Forbes and Condobolin “At Ray White we have a number of contractors on the list that have indicated things like ‘We will need accommodation for 100 workers for 6 to 9 months starting mid next year and other similar stories. There’s just no way we can keep up with demand using only traditional leasing and accommodation options’ says Tracie.

“Demand on pub rooms, motels and caravan parks are all affected by contract workers coming to town but once we are at levels where traditional accommodation options are all fully booked, we need to think outside the square” Tracie explains, “Last year we saw contractors travelling from Molong, Forbes, Orange and further afield in order to secure accommodation as close by as possible but with increased tourism in regional NSW and other projects across the area, these options are unlikely to provide enough capacity to service the demand we anticipate in Parkes during 2021”.

If you have a granny flat or alike or even an unused dwelling on your farm, please get in touch with our team at Ray White where we have started a register of granny flats & alternative accommodation options. Even if you have not thought about renting your granny or alternative accommodation option before, please get in touch. We can provide at least 2 months notice so you can get the place ship shape and we can negotiate prices on an individual basis but the short term rental market can be very lucrative.

“This is just the first step so that we can inform project managers of capacity” says Tracie “We will host an information night in March next year to provide home owners with a full information kit including advice from insurers and information about expected rent incomes and what furnishings and facilities would be required. Those seeking accomodation will range from labourers who may be school leavers and backpackers, right through to professional staff. Many contractors are willing to take a head lease in their company name and will provide a rent and repairs guarantee which is excellent peace of mind when renting on a temporary basis, also home owners could pick and choose what sort of tenant they would be comfortable with. We would encourage anyone from Parkes, Forbes, Eugowra, Peak Hill, Trundle and all surrounding villages to email us with your information if you think you can help”.

All you need to do for now is email us with your name, address, phone number and a brief description of your accommodation option. We will get in touch in March 2021 to invite you to an information evening and provide an update. Email
